Settling into The Netherlands

Moving to the Netherlands has its pros and cons, just like moving to any other country. Of course, if you don't mind some rain ☔️, we think the pros far outweigh the cons.

People in the Netherlands generally have a high quality of life. And you can find a good balance between work and life. On average, they get 25 vacation days per year. This could be one reason why the Netherlands is also one of the ten happiest countries in the world.

The infrastructure in the Netherlands is well-kept, there isn't much corruption, crime is low, there is a healthy biking culture and most systems work pretty well.

This small country is home to many people from other countries, and the people who live there are mainly open to them, especially in the bigger cities. In fact, the Dutch are known for being the best non-native English speakers, so that you can speak English everywhere in the Netherlands.

From kindergarten to university, the Netherlands offers Europe some of the highest-quality educational opportunities.

When you're in a place you don't know well, meeting friendly people is one of the best things to happen. The Dutch are friendly, tolerant and open, and don't mind talking to you when they see you on the street.

Last but not least, the Netherlands isn't considered a very large country; for that reason, it's easy to travel from one city to the other. For example, this will allow you to experience the Groningen music festivals, the Enschede brewery tours or the Rotterdam film festivals. Plus, it's easy to travel all around Europe from the Netherlands.

"I chose the Netherlands for its diverse culture. You don't feel like a foreigner or a stranger here. Although nobody is a native English speaker, except for a few, you can still communicate with everybody in English. Netherlands location in Europe makes every country of Europe simply accessible. It has moderate winters. And for me, it is an endless joy to hear a great piece of classical music when passing around the Rijksmuseum."

Kateryna, sr. Frontend Engineer

"In Netherlands I can enjoy fresh air and clean water, walk in diverse well-groomed parks or reach the sea very fast. The architecture is rich and restrained, permeated by many canals, roads are flat and well equipped to ride a bicycle on daily basis. People are friendly, respectful to one another, to nature and  the environment. Here I can live in the town but still be quite close to the nature."

Jitesh, Frontend Engineer

"I chose Amsterdam/Netherlands for many reasons. It has one of the best and most stable healthcare systems in Europe. If you have children, here are great schools and universities to offer. Amsterdam is a mix of many nationalities and cultures. If you're a fan of history, nature, and art, Amsterdam is heaven. And last but not least, it is one of the biggest startup hubs in Europe. Law and order make the country very safe. The transportation system is also well maintained."

Hamed V., Frontend engineer

"Even though I had always dreamed of living in the Netherlands, specifically Amsterdam, several other factors led me to choose this country: Work-life balance. English, everywhere! Dutch tax exemption for employees."

We look forward to having you on board!
